Program Team

The program will be conducted by Dr. P. Gowri Shankar and Priyanka Swamy.

Dr. P. Gowri Shankar, a wildlife biologist who has been studying king cobras for over two decades, is widely regarded as an authority on their ecology. He completed his PhD at North Orissa University and was an exchange student at Uppsala University, Sweden. He was instrumental in pioneering the radio telemetry studies on king cobras, uncovering key insights into their behaviour. His work has been featured in documentaries by BBC, National Geographic, Discovery, NatGeo Wild, Animal Planet, and Smithsonian. He was awarded Herpetologist of the Year (2015) by the Swedish Herpetological Society and is a TED Fellow (2020) and TED  speaker.

Priyanka Swamy, a PhD scholar working on Malabar pit vipers, brings strong experience in reptile ecology, phylogeography, and environmental outreach, with a focus on field-based research and education.

Together, they bring  expertise in research, conservation, and education, creating a rich and engaging learning experience.
