For his post doctoral research at CES-IISc he examined the extent and patterns of distribution of genetic diversity within the Ranid family of the Western Ghats.He continues to elucidate problems in taxonomy, systematics and delimitation of the species, and is attempting to define the altitudinal and latitudinal range of distribution for ranids and other frogs.

Her primary interest is in evolutionary ecology with focus on thermal physiology of reptiles and amphibians. For ectotherms, temperature becomes a determining factor of life and death. She is trying to understand their coping mechanism with climate change both in short and in long term.

His work focused on the evolutionary history of the frog genus Nyctibatrachus from the Western Ghats. He is intrigued by the phenomenon of speciation and the issue of cryptic species. He is specifically interested in the evolutionary and biogeographic history of endemic anuran groups of the Western Ghats, their relationships with each other, and the factors that drive speciation and diversification in these groups.
